High resolution TEM
- Conventional transmission electron microscope fitted with a high quality Morada digital camera system.
- Biological specimens have to be chemically fixed. Animal and plant tissues or cells are embedded in a resin, cut in 50-100 nm sections and contrasted with heavy metals.
- The resolution of a TEM depends upon the sample preparation and is below 1nm for virus particles and in the range of 3-5nm for tissue sections
